Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the Hartenjagen mobile app handles information.
1. Who we are
The Hartenjagen app ("the App") is developed and published by Joost Muijsenberg ("we", "us", "our"), based in the Netherlands. We act as the data controller for any personal data processed through the App.
For any privacy-related questions or requests, contact us at joostmuijsenberg.dev@gmail.com.
2. Summary
- We do not require an account, and we do not collect your name, email address or contact details.
- Your game data (scores, statistics, achievements, settings and paused games) is stored only on your own device and never leaves it.
- The App displays advertisements through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device and usage information to serve ads.
- The App uses Google Firebase for anonymous usage analytics and crash reporting, to help us improve the App.
- We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
- You can change your ad-consent choices at any time from within the App (Settings → Manage ad preferences) and opt out of personalised ads in your device settings.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you provide
The App does not require registration. We do not ask for personal information directly. If you contact us by email, we will process the information you choose to send us in order to respond.
3.2 Game data stored on your device
Scores, statistics, achievements, preferences and paused games are stored locally on your device only. This data is not transmitted to us or to any third party, and it is removed when you uninstall the App.
3.3 Information collected automatically
Third-party services used in the App automatically collect limited information, as described in Sections 4 and 5 below.
4. Advertising
The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob is provided by Google Ireland Limited and may collect and process the following information:
- Advertising identifier (such as the Android Advertising ID)
- Device information (model, operating system, language, region)
- Approximate location derived from IP address
- Information about ad interactions (impressions, clicks)
This information is used by Google to deliver, measure and (where permitted) personalise advertisements, and to prevent fraud and abuse. Google acts as an independent data controller for this processing.
For more information, see Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy and how Google uses information from sites or apps that use their services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
4.1 Consent and personalised ads (EU/EEA, UK, Switzerland)
If you are located in the EU/EEA, the UK or Switzerland, the App will ask for your consent before personalised ads are shown, using Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent dialog. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time from within the App (Settings → Manage ad preferences) or by resetting your advertising identifier in your device settings.
If you do not consent, the App will continue to show non-personalised advertisements.
4.2 Opting out of personalised advertising
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads → "Delete advertising ID" / "Opt out of Ads Personalization".
5. Analytics and crash reporting
The App uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to understand how the App is used and to diagnose crashes. These services may collect:
- Anonymous usage events (for example: a game was started or finished, the selected difficulty or language, which screens were viewed)
- Device information (model, operating system version, language, region)
- App version and general performance data
- Crash logs and stack traces when the App malfunctions
This information does not identify you personally and is used solely to improve the stability and quality of the App. For details, see Firebase Privacy and Security.
6. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, we rely on the following legal bases under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) for personalised advertising and any optional tracking.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) for non-personalised advertising, anonymous usage analytics, crash reporting, fraud prevention and ensuring the App functions correctly.
7. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. The only parties that may receive information generated by your use of the App are the Google services listed above (AdMob, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics). We do not share data with any other third parties unless required by law.
8. International transfers
The service providers mentioned above are established in the EU but may transfer data to servers located outside the European Economic Area, including the United States. Such transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards (such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses) as described in Google's privacy policy.
9. Data retention
We do not store any personal data on our own servers. Game data remains on your device until you clear it or uninstall the App. Retention of data processed by Google (advertising, analytics, crash reports) is governed by Google's own retention policies, available in their privacy documentation.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you
- request correction or deletion
- object to or restrict processing
- withdraw consent at any time
- lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in the Netherlands: the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl)
Because we do not collect personal data directly, requests regarding ad- or analytics-related data should generally be addressed to Google. You can still contact us at joostmuijsenberg.dev@gmail.com for assistance.
11. Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
12. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect any information we process. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is fully secure.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated via the App or this page.
